If you’re like me, then there’s a good chance that your makeup collection is already out of control. I have so many products and so few places to store them! But don’t worry—I’ve got some advice on how to build your own makeup collection without going bankrupt in the process.

Start with the basics.

Foundation, concealer, and powder. Your skin is the most important part of your face so it’s important to start here. A good foundation will make all the difference in how well you look and feel on camera or behind a desk at work.

If you don’t have any foundation yet, there are several options available online (or in person). Make sure that whatever type of product you choose has sunscreen built into it. It’s hard to find products that don’t offer this feature!

Blush. This is also an essential part of any makeup collection. Blush colors can be bright or dark depending on what suits your mood at that moment. The best way to find out what works best for yourself is just going try them all out until one catches fire with its color intensity!

Lipstick. There are tons more ways than just lipstick itself too, like glosses (which add shine). Lip balms, moisturizers, lip scrubs, etc., Experiment until discover which lipstick combination works best for you.

Buy high-quality products.

The first step to building your makeup collection is to buy high-quality products. “High-quality” means that the product will last longer and perform better than cheaper alternatives.

This can be achieved by choosing cruelty-free brands, buying from trusted retailers, and not being tricked into buying fake or knockoff products.

Buying cruelty-free products. There are several ways you can go about this—from checking the company’s website or social media profile or asking a friend who uses their line of makeup.

Get a good concealer and foundation.

If you want to look your best, it’s important to have good concealer and foundation. Concealer is used to cover dark circles, blemishes, and other imperfections on the skin. Foundation is used to even out skin tone, help concealer blend in better and give your face a natural finish. Both are crucial for anyone looking for a flawless look!

Pick a blush color that matches your skin tone.

Your blush should be a shade or two darker than your skin tone. The color should be applied to the apples of the cheeks, not the entire face.

You may have heard that blush shouldn’t be applied to your forehead or temples, but this is not true! You can certainly use it there if you like. It’s just that these areas are often more exposed than other parts of your face, so they tend to show up better in photos.

Select color-matching lipstick.

When you’re building your makeup collection, it’s important to remember that color matching is key. If you want to wear any particular shade of lipstick and it doesn’t look right on your lips, then chances are it won’t look right on anyone else’s either.

When picking out a new shade of lipstick, try not to buy one that is too dark or bright—you don’t want them looking like they’re war paint!

You also shouldn’t go with something too light or dark (like peach-colored lipsticks), as well as warm or cool hues. These will only change the way your natural coloring looks when applied over the top of the foundation.

Invest in different types of eyeliner.

There are many different types of eyeliner, and knowing which one to choose can be difficult.
If you’re new to the world of makeup, it’s important to start by looking at what your face shape looks like. If you have a round face or square jawline, then a liquid eyeliner will work best for your purposes.

If you have long lashes and are looking to enhance them with an upper lash line that extends past the outer corner of your eye (commonly called “waterline”), then a pencil is probably better suited for you than other types of liners because it easily gets sharpened and lasts longer than liquid products do.

If any specific events are coming up soon—like a wedding or prom—in which you’d like something stylish but not too over-the-top, then consider using gel liner instead of liquid or cream pencils due to its versatility in creating different looks.

Use eyebrow liner to define your eyebrows

Fill in the shape of your eyebrows, using a pencil or brow gel to keep them in place while you’re working. With the tip of an angled brush, blend the product into your hair and up through the roots for a more defined look.

Once you’ve applied everything above, spoolie out any excess product with a cotton swab or makeup remover pad. Then finish off by brushing some powder over it all to set it!

Don’t forget mascara

Mascara is a must-have and can be used to add volume, length, and definition.

  • Find the right mascara for your lashes. You’re going to want something that’s not too heavy or too light. Keep in mind that it shouldn’t feel like you’re wearing makeup all day long (which would make you look like a clown). Try different brands until you find one that works best on your lashes. If they’re flaking off after only five minutes of use, then chances are it’s not doing its job properly.
  • Don’t forget to clean your brushes! Makeup brushes tend to get dirty pretty quickly because we touch them so much throughout our daily routine. However, if they’re left unclean for too long then bacteria can build up on them causing infections in which case they need cleaning immediately before any damage occurs.

Choose the right palette for you

Before you start investing in new makeup, it’s important to think about what type of palette will work best for you. There are a few things to consider:

  • Do you want a palette with magnetic closures? Magnetic closures make it easy to open and close the bag without having to worry about breaking or damaging the product inside.
  • How much space do you have in your drawers and cabinets? Palettes come in many sizes, from small ones perfect for travel. All the way up to large palettes that can hold more than one shade of eyeshadow at once. If space is limited, opt for something smaller, you’ll be able to fit more products into less space!

Decide how to store it.

You’ve decided you want to build your own makeup collection, which is awesome. Now what? The first thing to consider is how and where you will store it.

Your collection must be properly stored so they maintain their quality and effectiveness. This means that the container itself should be airtight, moisture-proof, and dust-free.

So if you’re ready to add some color to your life, we hope this guide has been helpful. Whether you’re new to makeup or an expert in the industry, it’s important to invest in the right tools for your needs.
